... was cloudy and cold, almost foggy too and the photos do not show the beauty. But to be cruising through the valley and the fall leaves and vineyards was so beautiful I stayed upstairs to take pictures for almost 3 hours. We went by the Prince Ric************* Heart Castle. Legend has it that he was held captive there until his servant went throughout the ...

    Hello everyone.

Although we started the day docked in Linz and visiting the Abbey in Melk, we ended the day in Durnstein. In fact, as we were in Melk the ship sailed to pick us up in Durnstein after our tour. ... side of the Danube had bands and music playing as the marathoners passed through their village so while we road on the south side, we could hear the music. Score!

The first part of our bike ride was through forest and along the banks of the Danube (watch out for beavers). The Danube was very fast moving and we were riding downstream with the current. We saw a number of river cruise boats (think Viking River Cruises) going in both directions as well a ...

Magnificent Durnstein  Picture perfect town in the Wachau Valley in Austria. It has imposing ruins of a 1130-era castle where Ric************* Hearted was imprisoned during the Third Crusades. After supper last night, instead of staying aboard the ship, a group of 8 of us left to visit the town at night. It was unbelievably pretty! A hidden gem! Cobblestoned narrow streets, charming homes, guest houses and pubs. ...
