... where Ric*************heart was captured & held for ransom. He was discovered by his personal minstrel who went back to England & obtained truly a King's ransom - enough to pay for the fortification walls of Vienna plus some other town as well. Disembarking in Durnstein, we ran out of steam and made our way back to Vienna to close out our last day in Vienna and bid auf Wiedersehen to Frau Countess ...

... Kaiser Franz Stephan von Lothringen as a Commander. Marie Therese visited the Abbey at Melk on three occassions and much of the construction was undertaken during her reign. The Imperial rooms off the corridor are now museums, displaying documents relating to the abbey's history, statues and paintings, including the precious gold Melk Crucifix. ... we woke up early for breakfast, and again I got to feel the Haas family's warmth and hospitality. I requested for some more Almdudler, which I know would not normally be drunk at breakfast time, had more Jerome cheese, more weckerl, and generally tried anything that we didn't have in Australia. I presented the family with a small Vegemite jar and forced them to eat it straight and watched the unhappy looks on their faces. Then I got them to try it ...
