Will write this up as time permits but the highlight for me today was the visit to a little village called Apremont which is very proud of being beautiful and rightly so http://www.apremont-sur-allier.com/the% 20village.html

... It was very hot today, 34 degs I think and sunny. Hottest day so far. We stopped in Pouilly to eat our lunch but Dave and I just found a shady, grassy square and stayed put.

... would hold. Was quite relaxing. He suggested we went back to Briare to see if there was a bike shop there so..... back across the Pont Canal we went! The lighest person, Phil an american and perhaps the oldest but the fittest of us all rode the wounded bike.

Similar start to the day with a bit of rain but also very windy. I had slept better though.

We had 55kms to cover today! We stayed on the barge to experience two of the fourteen locks the barge is to go through today. These are more modern than the "seven locks" the town is named for.
