We were on the road before 08:30 again this morning - it was a little chilly but it wasn't long before we were climbing out of the Loue valley so that warmed us up. The ride towards Besancon was along a fairly ordinary French 'D' road with moderate levels of traffic until we were a few miles away when we left the beaten track for my devious quiet approach to the busy town. ... the mighty river Saone. Three times wider than the Thames even though still 100 miles from the Mediterranean.

Stopped at Pontailler-sur-Saone and at Auxonne before reaching our winter berth at St Jean de Losne in Burgundy.

Our journey home commences by train with stops at Dijon, Troyes and Paris and finally the Eurostar.

Cheers for now!

Hope you all had a nice 4th of July. We spent ours driving about 3.5 hours from Langres to Rolampont. Then I spent an hour or so walking around up and down the canal looking for somewhere where the wifi hotspot would work - with no luck! Then we had some cremant de Bourgogne with a nice Swiss couple who were so happy that we had no objection to them tying up onto our boat here at the very small jetty that they wanted to give us an ...

... 10:30 am. We drove through the beautiful landscape of the Voges and "la route des grands Crue" where you find hundreds of vineyards. Lots of chateaus and gorgeous old villages along these roads. We felt like stopping and staying around this area to visit but we have appointments with our friends, so we'll just have to come back here without the caravan and a small tent than we would be here in 5 driving. At 5:30 pm we arrived at the house of Hubert and ...
