... the last couple of kilometres to the hotel gave us a quite steep climb.

As you peruse the pictures you may be able to see some small objects on the river. Those are kayaks, and when we got to the end we found a roaring business of kayak rentals with options of 8, 12, 24 and 30 km trips. It was very tempting.

... in 1789 during the French revolution. The present church, first conceived in 1864, was finally built in 1905. The Abbot, obviously a smart man, figured out that parishioners would receive both physical and spiritual blessings. By the time they walked up the steps around the chapel, they’d be ready for a reprieve and chance to reflect on life. It was truly an incredible sight.
