... we have seen so far, is quite different. The houses are very well kept, the gardens are lush and full of flowers, as are roadside verges and public spaces. We're out for dinner tonight too. The group has a booking on a restaurant boat moored in the river port tonight. We have a big ride planned for tomorrow, 65kms or thereabouts and the day is forecast to be 31degrees. I hope the bits that are sore tonight are less sore tomorrow ...

A cycle around the town revealed a huge flea market in progress with hundreds of browsers and stall holders enjoying he interaction.
We were considering our evening options to keep WiFi going, as I had a problem getting French SIM card to work as it had been inactive since May. Orange France has a 2Gig monthly top up which expires at end of 28 days whereas Orange Spain has no expiry on your credit.

After leaving Marseille I was directed to stay below 600' and follow the coast west - oh what a shame! Just spectacular, it was fairly overcast, so colours weren't quite popping, but were some sights that I wasn't expecting, as I thought of the French med coast as all built up.

... its bay are part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. It was amazing on the outside, very simple but beautiful on the inside. After our visit, we headed to Rennes and caught a train to Paris. (There is a much more stressful truth to this part involving more bad decisions on a travel day, poor French signage, and long lines at Europcar but I'll omit it here... We left Barbatre about 10.15 in sunshine and with less wind, which was nice, so headed towards Noirmoutier at the end of the island. We came to one of the salt farms on the way so stopped to have a look around and buy a selection of flavoured salts.
