... we would go and look at the mechanicals on the other side of the river. Hopped on the tram, walked over the bridge and found guess what - closed on Mondays! But we had a fabulous sightseeing day - the Chateau, the cathedral, the fountains and the pavement cafés. Home on the tram for a peaceful evening, ready for visiting Sue and Tony Berridge tomorrow.

The bread van arrived - noisily- at about 8 this morning. I looked out to see people emerging from their vans to get bread. It had rained heavily overnight, with a fair wind, but the pitch remained solid. We had a fairly long drive but mostly motorway. We stopped for lunch at an aire. For the first time since owning the house in France we have decided to catch the train from our local station at Questembert. The station is about 12km from Malestroit and is on the main line between Vannes (population 50,000), Redon (population 10,000) and Nantes (population 280,000) a journey of, if you catch a fast train, about one hour and twenty minutes from Vannes to Nantes. It is fair to say that SNCF have a fairly erratic timetable, ...

... ghost town! Of course, it is Monday and all the shops are shut. We wandered round and Alex led us to a Bar/Brasserie, called Le Concorde, which was open and served us lovely coffee, which we drank outside. Inside, the Bar was decked out ready for the match tonight-France versus *****ia!
Another couple turned up and sat outside with us. They were from Perth in Scotland and travelling round France for two months with their little Scottie dog. We all set ...
