Traveling from Chamonix to Lake Annecy we went through some breathtaking views through the Alps. The city is quite gorgeous, a favorite Lakeside destination for French families in summer. After a walk through 'Little Venice' taking the sights of a town voted the most beautiful in France, i had a lovely lunch of the local (from Nice) Niçoise salad in a central location before taking the one hour boat trip on the lake. We saw the ...

St-Jean is a great town, popular with bikers and cyclists as it sits in the heart of Vacours Region. Aire sits behind town on the river Lyonne. A little tired but spacious and good Custom services. We have moved further north and west to a little known area of France. We certainly hadn't heard of it. Onwards we pushed to the Alps with the scenery getting increasingly spectacular. Soaring massive mountains parted for us as we cruised up the valley alongside a rushing river. The object of desire was the climb of the Alpe d'Huez of Tour de France claim. We luckily missed out on the angry black ...

... area. If I'm honest, it looked like some of the bleakest parts of the Rhondda valley. Dark, grimy, houses just like in South Wales. But in between, glorious glimpses of the bluest lakes within deep gorges. The weather has been disappointing, but we can't hope to have wall to wall sunshine. It snowed last night on the tops of the mountains, and around the lake, the snow line is very low. It is forecast for tonight! The wind is great for the sailors and ...

Never Rains In Southern Grenoble (To the tune of)

... walking tour (once the rain stops...)
After our Iceland saga where we waited for ages for a bus, on the wrong side of the road (I blame Chris!) a guy came to the stop, walked past after realising we were English, then came back and explained which buses ran and from which side (even giving us his timetable) We all got on the bus that came, €2 each to town) and thought we would get of at Place Victor Hugo. Somehow we ended up at the bus station which was the terminus so ...
