I was barely able to put one foot in front of the other, and I found myself stumbling every other step. I am so glad that I had my trekking poles to help me stay upright. ... it well from my books. It really is a beautiful place. In fact, the sign outside of town said it has been voted one of the most beautiful cities in France, and I can see why. When I arrived, I thought that there must have been a street festival because there were so many people walking around. Well, apparently, this is a popular tourist destination within France, and being that it is a holiday weekend, everybody was out and about. It’s ...

... Puy - such a disappointment! Photos are heavily doctored

We continued on around St Etienne and Roanne, and past Digoin and into the lovely Burgundy countryside.

By now we were near Charolles and all the fields were full of beautiful big cream beef cattle - Charollais!
We followed the R Arroux and soon spotted the towers ...
