Historical Traveler Reviews Loews Vanderbilt Hotel Nashville
We were very disappointed in this hotel which is expensive but not cooperative or helpful. DON'T lose anything at this hotel! We left the hotel last Sunday morning very early and did not realize that I had left my favorite pair of slacks until I unpacked Sunday night, I realized they were missing but did not worry since this was supposed to be a great hotel. I called at 8 Monday morning and was referred to security. I asked them to check the room for the slacks giving them color and make. They promised to call back. I waited all dayand called again. They promised to check and call me again. I gave up after the third call. This happened at the Hampton Inn several years ago. They returned my call and mailed the item. Save your money--go to a Hampton Inn!!!
We loved this hotel!
My husband and I celebrated our 15th anniversary in Nashville and booked an air and hotel package which included this hotel. We loved it! The staff were very accommodating. We arrived early and were informed that our room was not yet ready, so we took a walk to Music Row. We returned and were given our room which unfortunately consisted of two double beds contrary to our request of a king bed. The man at the front desk promised to fix the problem but failed to call back. When I complained we were given an upgraded suite with profuse apologies. We loved the down comforters and the spacious and clean rooms. Yes, the prices in the restaurant are high but they're high everywhere in Nashville. This is a tourist destination and to be expected. There are less expensive places off the beaten path. The only problem with this hotel and it is a small one is the location. In order to get downtown which is where the majority of the attractions and bars are, we needed to take a cab at a cost of about $10 each way, including tip. Still, the package was so affordable that for us this was a minor point.
Great location, friendly staff, very clean!
This is overall a great property. We have stayed here several times and had a great experience everytiem. It is very clean and the staff is very friendly. The conceriege was especially helpful and made our stay very easy! This hotel is right across the street from Vanderbilt University - so the restaurants, bars, etc. are plenty! One other note - this hotel allows dogs for those pet owners out there.
They overbooked and we lost our room
We booked a room through an airline's promotional site. We booked a non-smoking double and confirmed this with a business credit card. I called them two times (booked in February for March 26-28) to reconfirm the reservations. Upon arrival, they game us a king size bed and pull out couch - for three. None of us enjoy a pull out couch - they said they were overbooked and their policy was they could only guarantee a room - not what type. Never heard of this before, not with a confirmed credit card booking. They sent us to the Embassy Suites (which were wonderful). What a way to treat your out of town guests!
Our stay was wonderful...The room was spacious, and most importantly, CLEAN! Really loved the down comforter with modern duvet and quality linens, comfortable chairs, spotless bathroom, and the living green plant. Well trained staff members were courteous and friendly. The room would be pricey for an extended stay, but for a couple of nights, superior quality was worth every penny.
Nice but overpriced
Thank God we got a discounted room rate for this hotel. I would have been so disappointed had I paid the rate posted on the hotel's website.
The hotel its self is a grand hotel in the glamourous and glittery style of the 1980's. Rooms are well-appointed, reasonably sized, and clean. The downside is the hotel charges extra for EVERYTHING. I was suprised they didn't charge for the soap! There is a cd player in the room and wrapped (new) cds that you will be charged for if you open them. There was a cowboy hat in the closet which you will be charged for if you wear it--I hate to imagine who has worn it without keeping it! The lobby bar was nice and the bartenders are very good at mixing cocktails correctly. For football fans--the Tennessee Titans stay at the hotel the night before each of their home games. I would stay there again, but never at the rack rate.
A low point for the Loews Vander-bites
It started off nice at least. My girlfriend and I were given a free upgrade to a large corner room on a high floor. But then that afternoon we were WALKED IN ON BY STAFF WHILE WE WERE... (use your imagination) WITHOUT HAVING EVEN KNOCKED!!! The following morning, we discovered that, at the Loews, hot water is available only UPON REQUEST!
Immediately after this episode, we further discovered our clogged bathroom sink meant having to wait for an "engineer" (because the Loews is too good to call them plumbers?) to come up. Although he successfully unclogged the sink 30 minutes following our call to the front desk, he left the bathroom STINKING of whatever he pumped up from the drain and rendering it useable only while holding one's breath. The Loews Vanderbilt has been trumped by the newer, superior, and nearby Vanderbilt Marriott and it shows.
To snotty for me
Stayed for an anniversary..25 years. Upon check-in they informed me I had requested double beds in a smoking room. I have never smoked and was not about to sleep in seperate beds on my 25th anniversary night. I told them non-smoking and a king size bed. "I was wrong" was the response. I then was given 5 minutes to decide if I would take a smoking king room...we did. Our bags were not taken to our room, I had to go get them. There was coffee in the coffepot from another customer.
The manager did send me an apology in the mail and a free nights stay.
We did not use it. Nothing friendly or warm about that place.
My stay at the Loews Vanderbilt Plaza was quite pleasant. The motel is very upscale. The room was spacious and well decorated. The down comforter and stylish duvet cover added polish to the room. The bathroom was also very clean and updated. The Loews has an excellent view of downtown Nashville. They offer several amenities. The lobby area with its winding staircase is quite beautiful. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers.
Just got back from a stay at the Loews. Everything was overpriced and ala carte. Our advice is to keep looking. There's a nice Courtyard/Hampton right across the street. The Days Inn is right there, too and looks ok.

... out how she made the noise happen and how she didn’t wake up to agony in her teeth and gums. But, ah well, I finished my show and took a shower. She was still sleeping after I was ready so I beat her with the pillow again until she shouted, "that’s enough." As I brushed my hair she dozed in and out until she was ready to land her feet on the floor at 11:30 a.m. It didn’t take her long to get ready. As we packed away for checkout I looked in ...
... they are voted off. I heard that as soon as they get off camera they are offered food. My mouth was salivating thinking of all the fast food restaurants that MUST be at the end of the Parkway. Alas, it was not so but we settled on the first fast food restaurant we saw which was thankfully a Subway.

... and to this day each performance is a live radio performance broadcasted all over the world. With a cast that none of us had heard of ranging from visitors playing at the Opry to entertainers who had been members of the Opry for 50 years; we heard it all...and we were entertained!
With not long to wait before Greg and the gang arrived to pick us up, we were all peckish and went off to find some dessert. Into bed now, we are off to Memphis in the morning!
We got an early start heading into Nashville City Centre arriving around 9:30am to the Country Music Hall of Fame, Part of Zach's Music education. They are doing a lot of redevelopment in the city, when we walked from where we parked the RV to the Hall of Fame there was a high hotel being built next door and right across the road there was a brand new convention centre called Music City Centre. It was high and was actually rather pleasing to the eye not like the Perth ...
