    Geiranger

A travel blog entry by larrylyn on Jun 25, 2014

What a fantastic day this turned out to be. By being up at 7 and in the Lido we were able to watch the sail down a series of fjiords and into Geiramger. One of the most beautiful areas we have seen so far. Snow covered mountains soar 4500 feet above and waterfalls are to numerous to name. We were on the first tender (10am) ashore and third in line at the ticket office so we had our choices of excursions; we went with the bus trip up the mountain ...

... We are now sitting just outside Geiranger, campfire burning and tummies soon to be full of choc-chip biscuits and Laura’s excellent pasta dish. Its OK though, the biscuits were only $4 and we have walked around 79km in the last 8 days. In Norway we have quickly become seasoned walkers and we’re giving the shants a workout. We stopped for a late lunch at a hotel that's was opened in the ...

... and full of moss and swamp-like areas. It was pretty cold here today and I was glad I opted for several layers and a rain jacket and a hat.

After viewing the glacier, we walked down the mountain and it was raining pretty much the whole time but we brought umbrellas, so we were good. Lunch was in a restaurant at the glacier park but it was plated (i.e., ...

... apple. Once we were on board the ferry, Tauck picked up the bill for soft beverages and snacks. The boat ride took about 2 hrs. and in the narrower of the fjords, the scenery was quite beautiful.

We got off the ferry at Kaupanger and on our way to Loen, made a few stops. One was to the Norwegian Glacier Museum where we watched a film about glaciers and spent some time looking at ...
