Had a decent night sleep. Europeans like their stiff beds. Can't wait to get home to my softer bed. Set the alarm for 6:30 am with full intention on catching the 7:55 am train to Monterosso, walk around the town a bit then hike to the next town Vernazza. At least that was the plan. Who was it that said "the best laid plans are meant to be followed …

    Hello
The Armonia is quite different to the Lirica. It is a larger ship and even less friendly without our regular little group. There are even more children. Some are lovely. No such luck. Magnificent views can be enjoyed, but only when you stop for a break. Most of the time eyes are cast down finding ...

... slower) train with limited stops via Livorno & Pisa, arriving in La Spezia almost 9 hours after leaving Sorrento.
We were met at the station by Damiano, the owner's son and his girlfriend, Valentina, who escorted us to our apartment and gave us a quick tour. They were obviously keen to do other things as they almost left without giving us the keys.
After unpacking, we did a quick explore and eventually found a supermarket, ...

... another tunnel and we were at Manarola, this would have to be my favorite. It was smaller than Ragiamoggiore but prettier. Geoff took off to the water and the kids and I went asking through the village looking for some lunch. We found a limitless grocery store and got some drinks and looked at all the cheeses, then we found the fruit shop and got fragola (strawberries), then the foccacerria for a pizzeta (mini pizza) and fresh ...
