Had a decent night sleep. Europeans like their stiff beds. Can't wait to get home to my softer bed. Set the alarm for 6:30 am with full intention on catching the 7:55 am train to Monterosso, walk around the town a bit then hike to the next town Vernazza. At least that was the plan. We never left the apartment until after midday when we went for a wander around La Spezia to get some tourist information and have a look at the port. Unlike the big cities, La Spezia is more traditional with shops shutting from about 1:30 in the afternoon and reopening about 4pm. A much needed lay day involving afternoon naps and reading.

... the weather is very hot again) Manarola is the next village and ultimately the kids favourite! Down then end is another swimming point with giant rocks to jump off! Meg & Tom meet some English speaking tourists and they all jump off the high peaks - Tom loved the steep parts & jumped without any hesitation - Meg had to think about it but ultimately did the big jump! Katie was smart & just had a swim & little jump!! They ...
