The next morning, and I was COVERED again in bed-bug bites. This time was more severe, as I had over 100 bites that showed up over the next few days.

Jen also noticed a bite or two and with dread filled hearts at what was in store for us over the next few days we headed off.

I cant believe we did it. No yellow jersey for me though.

Andrea was going to ride back to La Spezia (I think he barely raised a sweat). We could barely walk into town.

    1. Total height difference 800 meters
    2. Length of the tour 35km
    3. Riding time 6.5hrs

On reflection (Darren still cant believe what he signed us up for) ...

Whilst he may have pulled a shifty one over me we decided we would see him the next night as it was pretty good value and great fresh food. We boarded the ferry the next day to the 5 towns. We were planning on ...

... for his boat. Ohhhhj noooo the last leg was grueling ... Vertical steps for about 30 minutes relatively flat for an hour then 30 minutes decline to get to Monterroso al Mare. Ya hoo we made it our legs are sore we are hot sweaty and needed swim. The water was beautiful little pebbles on the beach and in the water still we didn't care. Was so refreshing. As we were leaving we passed through a tunnel and there was ...

... actually trekking. It turns out, I was able to wander onto sea ledges, up stone steps and behind mini garden plots to find a few vantage points for taking photos from a distance - without actually being on the "official" trail.

First stop for today: Vernazza. I can see why everyone talks about Vernazza. There is something magical about emerging from the tunnel onto a mini train platform, and to then walk into a fairytale sun drenched village. It was market ...
