There is a United Church of God congregation of about 30 that meets there. The elder in Macarthur is Jose Campos. His wife is Deodita. One of his sons is Reuel whose wife is Meryl (Macaraeg). He also has a daughter Kerin married to Ben John Tagoyan.

... and I came upon a motorbike accident at dusk. There was a group of men huddled on the side of the road, and a clearly damaged motorbike just feet away. We decided to stop since it was still in the rural area outside the town proper and I didn't see any other vehicles around. When we got closer we heard the men claiming the man was dead and that he had been drunk, crashing on his own without interference from other vehicles.

The typhoon warning system left much to be desired. People were encouraged to evacuate via television news broadcasts the day before the event. A lot of jargon such as "storm surge" was used which left those who did have access to television unaware of the true potential impact of the storm.
