A few years ago I took to heart the mantra "Life goes on" or "Habang Buhay" and it has never failed to propel me forward when life seems to be too much. But every time I repeat this short phrase to myself and imagine how I will feel months down the road, I am never disappointed. Life DOES go on, and June 2014 has proved that to me once again.

... br> Next week will see the majority of existing volunteers leave with a new group of volunteers arriving on the 2nd of June. It will also be the conclusion of our temporary shelter project in Sto Nino which should be a reason to celebrate our accomplishment and hand over the site to the new homeowners. After that I will go on a well deserved one week break to Southern Leyte and Limasawa Island.

CRS has moved their housing project into the village proper, commencing construction of handfuls of homes for more families. That dream I had in December of 2011, share by VFV's previous director, is coming true. Each day more families have a home, and slowly but surely the village is becoming its own kind of suburbia, with "model" homes for everyone.

VFV will begin our very own Build A Home Projects in Cangumbang, hopefully by the end of the month, thanks to St John Bosco Parish.
