... and lightening storm, however today is magnificent, clear skys and about 29 degrees. After lunch we went for a walking tour of Rothenburg the most preserved medieval city in Germany and possibly the most picturesque villages in all of Germany. The high stone city wall is still intact. The town is also the home of the famous Kathe Wohlfahrt Christmas Shop. The shop is incredible and we did go a bit mad here. Cologne is a very ...

    Volkach to Ochsenfurt (39km) - Day 28

A travel blog entry by sydandval on Jun 11, 2015

The day dawned uniformly grey and pretty much stayed that way all day, brightening occasionally and then spitting rain on us. However the temperature was warm (22 degrees at 11am compared to 13 on Tuesday) and the breeze very gentle and only cool not cold. An additional bonus was that the paths seemed to trend downwards nearly all day with only one or two upslopes onto bridges. As today was planned to be 45km we decided to cut off about 5km by taking the path alongside the Main-Danube ...
