... a drink for my trouble. We finally arrived in Wurzburg where we checked into the hotel. I got the fright of my life when I opened the window in our hotel room and it nearly fell into my hands. Our tour guide had neglected to tell us about the windows in Europe that open inwards on an angle towards you from the top. After dinner we met at the church tower for The Nightwatchman ...

We watch big groups of people being herded round like cattle - told to get back on the bus!!! Two old Scottish women were so stressed gulping down their soup at lunch time, they were worried they'd miss their tour bus! We decided today that we'd walk the ancient fortified ...

... As legend tells the story, a mermaid once lived on the very top of the rock. Through the fog, her seductive song would lure sailors to abandon ship in search of her… always resulting in their doom. Even those sailors who remained with the ship would become so enchanted with her song, they would often lose sight of the water and be washed ashore upon the rocks. We continued up the river enjoying the 1.5 hr cruise with a glass of wine ...
