Perfect town in perfect region

This was my 2nd visit to the small town/village, situated just into Holland from Belgium. In fact the majority of the 25 minute bus journey was spent exiting Bruges and passing Belgian villages and farms, I believe the beautiful Sluis was the first real landmark after crossing the border. The journey itself was very scenic (well worth the 3Euro! ) - complete with rabbits and farm fauna, passing long canals, and the stereotypical pancake-flat fields ...

... sure this special map app doesn't close down, otherwise it won't show us the maps anymore and we will be well and truly stuffed! It will be awesome once we reach the Rhine route, we have real maps for that one! (A comment from the future... Quiet day at John and Tienekes. Slept late, then Lola came home for lunch. It is strange that most of the children still come home for lunch and on Wednesday they only go to school in the morning. Must be a nightmare if you work full time and don't have family to help out. Tieneke and I walked to the school to pick her up after school and she played silly games with Gary and sang songs. Leonie has a virus so Maurice stayed for dinner before taking her ...

... sitting atop a chimney. The streets are crowded with people as we weave and dodge through town towards a windmill we saw. Close, we lose sight of it by a park and decide to sit on a bench and have lunch. A baguette with Gouda cheese and peppered salami. The meats and cheeses are so much better here. I don't think they are quite as processed as ours. There is a continuous stream of people walking by as something is definitely going on today ...

We biked from Belgium to Holland!

... Belgium. It was so cool to see pretty little cottages and windmills and endless fields. Our trip was about 40km in total - 20 there and 20 back. Our destination was the town of Sluis in The Netherlands. We thought it was pretty cool to bike over the border. Once in Sluis we walked around for a while and then had poffertjes and waffles in a busy little restaurant. The ride back was a bit more difficult with the sun setting and our stomachs full, but we slept very well that ...
