15 Tay Street Invercargill, South Island, New Zealand, 64-3-211-3800
09 December Not so far to drive today, so it was a more leisurely start. Easy drive to Invercargill, through beautiful farmlands, interesting rock formations, and most importantly no rain! Lots of No Vacancy signs in Invercargill but that was mostly the motels on the outskirts of town, while we prefer to be more central. Went to the Information centre and the girl got us a little two bedroom apartment right in the centre of the city. Plenty of great pubs in town, not least the Speights Ale Ho...

... some gravel (metal) roads. It is sealed all of the way from Niagara to Invercargill, we were also told the Matarua River that you cross at Gorge Road is the best Brown Trout river in the world.
There is a sign on the outskirts of Invercargill that says it is the "Southern Most City in the World" but I have seen a similar sign in Chile.
The first thing that strikes you about the city is how flat it is and how wide the streets are, the main street (Dee Street ...
Invercargill, South Island, New Zealand iquaff... let out a shriek to communicate. The next day we continued east along the coast to view some fantastic waterwalls, the impressive McClean Falls and the falls before heading to Nugget Point where you can view colonies of sea lions and penguins from an lighthouse viewpoint. It was known as Nugget Point due to the huge semi-submerged rocks off the coast which were nugget shaped. The sun was beginning to set and we caught some fantastic photos as we drove right by the sea.
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand mikeandpaula_09... was all going on while we were stood infront of this asian lady behind the counter, and it felt like we were back in southeast asia as she just looked at me bemused, and i probably made a fool of myself, and together we totally ruined the macdonalds experience! so, when i get home, i am so going for a macdonalds all on my own just to get back what i lost that day! anyway, afterwards, we head off in search of cheap autogas before setting off again towards the coast. however, detour ...

Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people." It is cool that God spoke that verse to Kathryn because at the end of the week, her mom said that she received the same verse from the Lord for us and had been praying it over us ...
Invercargill, South Island, New Zealand erincastillo... good time nosing around though, heading towards Invercargill, which is the other side of the Catlins and New Zealand's southern most City. I should point out here that for a place to be considered a city in New Zealand, it only needs a population of 25,000 or over, which in terms of Britain would make for a lot of cities!! Anyway, back to the Catlins. We saw some cool stuff here, half of which had to be reached by dirt road, which was no problem for the Delica!! And then ...

I shudder to think how the lyrics to "A Few of My Favourite Things" might have turned out had this really been the case]; · Waking up on New Year's Day and not having to struggle to remember what regretful things I had said or done the night before...now there's a memory I hope to duplicate as I continue my slow maturation process; · Feeling better about my never ending ...
Invercargill, South Island, New Zealand elopfamily... with the Frey-Mclean's as the kids got a fairly familiar Christmas (except it was summer, no turkey, and we were closer to the South Pole than the North). We hunted and twice found a tree to chop down as the first one the Dads and kids brought back was rejected. Lots of time was spent hand making decorations for the tree and anticipating the potential gifts under it. We spent two different days at Curio Bay (famous for its ...
Invercargill, South Island, New Zealand maaske... I would make it through the night. 9 blissfull hours of sleep later, my alarm woke me at 7.30. Thankfully, my penis was still attatched to my body and I was still alive. I gathered my overnight bag and slipped away via the local supermarket for breakfast, coffee and supplies before a 180km drive to my destination, Twizel. It was, thankfully, a glorious day once again and the drive along Highway 8 up into the mountains was stunning, especially the Lindiss Pass. I was back in the New Zealand ...
Invercargill, South Island, New Zealand dirtypixel... has a lovely little yard and only costs my flatmate Kathryn and myself NZ$60 a week each. The only catch is that we have to heat with coal via a little stove in the kitchen. Hence it's friggin' cold! But heating with coal is an adventure in itself and that's why I'm here, so I might as well enjoy it! Brrrrrrr...

We've met a bunch of nice people down here, interestingly all foreigners, mostly from Scotland so there's always someone around to do stuff with. So far I've only had ...
