Monday was our last day in Japan. We were flying out till later that evening so we had the morning in town then caught the bus and shinkansen back to Tokyo. We dropped our bags off at Tokyo station and walked around Ueno and Ginza before we caught the Narita express out to the airport and onto our flight home. ... for some quiet time and an onsen so Leigh and I took them up to the town heated swimming pool (open air). It was a great to rest our weary ski bones in the warm natural spring waters.

So that was our skiing for this year at Nozawa Onsen - we had lovely spring conditions (no ice), warmer than we expected, but it was also lovely to have some fresh snow too (in April). The kids improved their skiing and we are looking forward to coming back in January 2016!

... in the background. The castle in Matsumoto is pretty amazing. It was originally built in the 1400's but destroyed and rebuilt a few times til the version there is now. There are 6 floors but from the outside it only looks like 5 as one is hidden. We got to wander around inside carrying our shoes in plastic bags and wearing dodgy brown slippers. I had always wanted to see them with the icicles hanging off their faces and managed to get a photo one who had them, gorgeous.
