Went to the zoo this weekend. I’m not a fan of animals in cages, but I have to admit this zoo is a good one. The Johannesburg Zoo is a lovely combination of good-sized and well-designed enclosures for the animals, some rides for kids, and open spaces for family picnics. I went on a Sunday afternoon, and it was happily full without feeling crowded. (Photos of some denizens of the zoo below.)

... the outside loo, (i have seen them before), it was the fact that the dog had decided to have puppies right next to the toilet and every time you went to the loo the dog would growl the whole time, very off putting when all you hear is a growling dog and cannot see it whilst doing your business.

Anyway that finishes off my stay in Benoni, now heading off to the game reserve for three weeks.

The accommodation in Jo’burg was expected to be a small guesthouse, however when upon arrival we discovered that the Dove’s Nest Guesthouse has about forty rooms! There seemed to be some confusion over our booking and we were shown to a room which had just two small single beds – not what we were expecting for $200/night! The front desk staff ...

Amber's dad and Kristy met us at the airport and we went to Hugh's sister's place just outside of Johannesberg. It was a huge mansion (in my eyes) and was an awesome place to stay.
