... checked out a few shops too. It looks like it's quite an arty alternative town as well as having the old traditionals here too. Locals are friendly and have heaps of dogs. They take it all for granted as one does when one grows up in a place.

But check out the photos. I have rarely repeated shots of an arch so these will be almost all different ones, of various shapes and sizes. As well as a few other things I saw on my excursion.

... many boats were piling up there, unable to get back to where they were hired from, leaving the hire companies with quite a headache.

Today we have motored on lazily. No locks today. A slightly ammended plan means we head up the Peak Forest canal in a few miinutes (when we've done getting water). There are no locks there either and it's supposed to be a very nice quiet stretch.Tomorrow we plan to walk up Kinder Scout, one ...

Set off from home just before 2.30pm. Had a good ride over on the motorway as you do. Got within 48miles of Manchester City and we had to drop down to 50mph then 40mph because of queueing. So had a steady run then it picked up again, then we came upon more queues. Then incident ahead which appeared to be roadworks. We were pleasEd to get off the M62 onto the M60. Geoff had already checked where we needed to be on Google ...

Today Jenna and I walked into the gym. It is just over 6km one way so it is safe to say that once we got back to the house after lunch we were both fairly exhausted. On top of that I did leg weights at the gym today so I probably won't be able to walk tomorrow. After the gym Jenna and I wasted a couple of hours in the afternoon by reading and strategic power napping so I don't fall asleep at cricket training. ...

Once again it was Saturday and time to pull on the whites and take to the cricket field. The weather was pleasant when we woke up, fingers crossed we can get a result today as we desperately need a win, as do Coal Aston, the side we are playing. We walked up to Texaco so I could get a coffee before heading back to the house to get myself organised for the day. Jenna isn't coming up to the cricket today as Kay and Dave have gone away for ...
