      ... bright colored paint for signs and some buildings...

    • their buildings are tattered, but scattered with satellite dishes...
    • their hospitality is forefront, even when they have very little...
    • there is little variety in the clothes the women wear (nearly all sarees and salwars) but they are always brightly colored fabrics...
    • Men? nearly all in pants and shirts with buttons, and an occasional lunghi (wrap). No shorts or ...

      Boy, isn't that the truth! As much as I love traveling, as much as I love South America, we sure do have it great here in our country. I am the first to tell you that I take so many little things for granted. Brushing my teeth with tap water, eating salad (can't do that in third world countries), walking down our streets without worrying about being "the foreigner", eating food that we understand, speaking our own language.

      Off in the morning on our next adventure to South America, starting
      in Santiago, and heading for Peru.

      ... house. We watched the warm up from our awesome seats, right behind the Jets bench. During the anthem, the "true north" was impressive. For 2 periods we had lots to cheer about. The jets went up 4-0 but, as they sometimes do, they fell apart. The killer was that they let in the tying goal with only seconds left in the game (22 I think) and the ducks scored the winner only 16 seconds into overtime. Heartbreaker.
