... cobbles and a treacherously steep descent dodging pedestrians and diners on the pavement? We've watched other cars do it with bated breath, and one Winnebago doing a three point turn to avoid going in crunched into the ancient stonework of the patisserie one evening, so it wasn't the route of choice. By circuitous means we did find our way home and over the little bridge to our side of the port for our last night in Dinan.

... a bit sparse in Brittany.

On arrival it as still overcast and getting into the town necessitated a hairpin turn up a steep hill. We missed the first and got in in the second. The streets were narrower the further in we went, and we finally got stuck on a turn beyond the massive church, the Eglise St Mathurin, where the bells were tolling and a steady stream of people were headed. The only way to go was back out of the town ...

... no, sandwiches were not available at this time! The same old trap - lunchtime is for lunch, and if you miss it you have to wait til dinner time to get food! We had a coffee which was very good and very welcome, and available any time, and crossed the square to a Carrefour (a supermarket chain, like IGA) where we bought a baguette and some tarts and other groceries to replenish stocks at home.

We chewed hunks of baguette and ate a slice of flan each ...
