... other present day groups seeking for independence could learn from this... The Palestinians... the Kurds... Later, when Italy was being unified under Garibaldi, San Marino was a refuge for those fighting for unification. And Garibaldi remembered that, and honored their independence... So was it cleverness--or just good luck? Maybe just good luck that time. San Marino just happened to be on the winning side of that conflict... I pause to take a ...

... to a skyscraper here in San Marino… 0527 Village Festival (SM 006, 09B -152) Falciano, September 20, 2009 Day 256: 2 hours, 3.5 kms I think I can squeeze in just one more village before the last bus back to Rimini. ... town. Here I take a break from the boardwalk and head down for a barefoot hike along the endless beach. Darkness is setting in, but I have nothing to worry about... I've already done my Balleria video clip and I don't have to think about missing the last train... I'm going to walk to my hostel in Rimini. Once it's dark I can safely leave my guitar and camera on a rocky tide breaker and float out into the water for a magical nighttime swim. ...
