... of gold are in the sand. The best one and most known is Koukounaries Beach which means 'Stone Pines'. At Koukounaries there is a lagoon and a wooded peninsula with a Stone Pine
(Pinus pinea) forest separating the lagoon from the Aegean Sea.

It is said that Princess Diana used to go to Skiathos for holidays. I'm not surpirsed to be honest.


I really recommend you a film called "Mamma Mia!". Some of the scenes weher shot in Skiathos.

Exploring Skaithos

... so we are hoping to do some sightseeing of the area over the next couple of days. Luckily we had a waiter from the resort that is from that area of Thessaloniki, who gave us some places to eat and sights to see.

We have met some very nice people along the way, both Britts and Greeks who have given us good advice on what to see and do. The food has been good but not spectacular. ...

... he suggests a jeep instead..(tired of answering our calls I think!) ..he comes up and exchanges the jeep for the ATV, but since we had just put more petro in we follow him back so he can siphon off the gas and put it into our jeep...Greeks are very flexible people...Petro is more than $10/gallon so we were not going to leave it in the ATV!!!

Anyway...we are having a great time and seeing incredible things...hope you enjoy the pictures..
