We practically had it for every meal in Melaka) we decided to get a day pass on the Panorama bus which visited a lot of the main Melakan tourist attractions outside of the town centre. The value of friends you meet on the road.

Tuesday 31st - 4th April - Melaka, Malaysia.   I took the bus from Singapore on Wed 1st April to Melaka, Malaysia. In all the bus journeys I've done, and the amount of hours and nights I've spent on busses, for this 4 hour bus journey, I got the nicest bus I've ever seen.   The seats were like arm chairs, that reclined far back, with a foot rest. There was so much room in between the seats that even with the seat of the person in front right back I still ...

Incommunicado in Malaka

... yesterday with heat exhaustion and maybe a bit of amoebic dysentry (not that I am one to exagerate) Thanks to Dr Tanguys pills and potions I was up and ready to go a day later. Paul found the bus station which was close to Tesco where a bottle of whiskey jumped off the shelves into his arms. No internet connection in Melaka hence the lack of blog.

Melaka where the streets have no pavements

... the history of Portugal occupying Melaka was forgotten, the happier Melaka became). We had a really quiet time (it helped that it was Ramadan) but it was enjoyable. No best coffee here and the meals were good but not really outstanding. The Chicken rice and the BBQ pork were quite tasty. After two days in Melaka, on the Wednesday morning we set off by bus to our next pit stop - Kuala Lumpur.

... opportunity to visit. A charming older lady, wearing a traditional sarong, showed us through her "living museum". The house had been built by her grandfather and is now quite famous. On the walls were photos and news clippings of famous people who had visited as well as a guestbook and stacks of photo albums. It was amazing to see all the old antiques as well as displays such as family wedding clothes. The visit to Villa Sentosa was a definite highlight of our time in Melaka.

Day 106

We have a lie in as i still don't think I've recovered form Sunday and the journey and vow to eat less and healthier. We walk into the old town of Melaka passing the Maritime Museum which has a full sized replica of a Portuguese ship which resembles something from Pirates of the Caribbean. We go into the Museum of Enduring Beauty which is fascinating to see how different cultures depict beauty showing examples of foot binding, tattoos, nose and ...
