Liriocala Apartahotel Punta Cana

... as to how to get anywhere. 7 of the 8 students head off to Spanish class at 9:30 a.m. The one that stays behind is named Gabriela ("Gabi"). Her parents are Peruvian and therefore intro to Spanish is essentially a waste of time...convenient for me! After we both do some school work in the morning we decide after lunch to check out our surroundings, seeing as there is no way I'm going to find my way into Veron today.<br><br>We grab the Punta Cana basics ...

... beautifully landscaped and has really nice open, beachy architecture. The restaurant is also open to the outdoor evening breezes and about 20 yards from the beach, but its night and I've yet to be awed by its incredible beauty (that comes tomorrow). For the most part, dinner passes quite uneventfully.<br><br>After dinner I immediately zonk out at 10 pm after 13 hours of traveling and 4 hours of culture shock.<br><br>End of Day 1.<br>

Fui en el autobus a el Parque Nacional del Este. Fui a acampar en el parque y fui a pescar en el agua. Fui a subir en las arboles. Fue a estar fenomenal. Fui a ver los animales. Muchos iguanas en la Republica de Dominicana. La Republica de Dominicana tiene muchos animales. En el Parque Nacional del Este, fui a comer bocadillos.

I feel you don't get that closeness that I have enjoyed at other smaller resorts (where some of the staff remember your name, what you want to drink with dinner, how many people are in your group, things like that!) This hotel was very beautiful, lots of amazing gardening and well kept grounds, the rooms were standard hotel rooms, nothing spectacular. I found that this ...

... C. So when we got out of the plane the past 5 hours just disappeared...We were in the Dominican Republic!! And then there was the shuttle ride. I am pretty sure they don't believe in rules of the road there!! Laura and I were both about to barf by the time we got to the resort 1 hour later! Once again the D.R. made up for itself. A glass of champaign and finally getting into our beautiful room melted away the stress of the trip! Ah bed at last!

... tried to learn how to windsurf. We also went swimming with sea lions, a highlight for me. It was a great trip, although the last day and the few days after were unfortunately ruined by both of us getting pretty sick...Montezuma's Revenge claimed its latest victims!<br>

... sure I will not feel out of place again...I learned a lot of lessons after this trip - I'd say that is the only savings grace...<br><br>I know I won't stay at another Club Med - very disappointed in it. And despite my horrible time I cannot really blame DR for the bad time, as I didn't even leave the resort - but the bad taste has been left and I will just never go back! <br>

... range - early 20s - so the staff kept hovering around us. Male employees mostly, which made us extremely uncomfortable. Constantly making inappropriate comments, always trying to talk to us, eying us up and down - really did not make for an enjoyable time.<br><br>The food also started to become monotonous and was not very good...and then the trip really started to go down hill. <br>

... so I was ill prepared.<br><br>My roommate suggested that we try a club med - she had heard about them before and people seemed really happy going to them - she also liked the all-inclusive idea, which lets face it, I did too.<br><br>I flew out of Newark International and my roommate flew out of Charlotte...we were going to meet at another airport and then take the same flight to Dominican Republic.
