Coco because of the coconut palm lined beaches. The road was mostly inland,
though, and I saw a lot more cows and Dominican cowboys than palm-fringed beaches
as the road went through grazing country and small villages. I tried to get to

I chose the best flight deal I could find from the New York area to Santo Domingo, a redeye flight from JFK Airport that got me to my destination at 4:30 A.M. I chose Santo Domingo because of direct flights from New York, but there are apparently direct flights from the U.S. to several other airports in the Dominican Republic. I think I may have managed to get a few winks on the flight.
