Up waaaayy to early to catch the ferry to Rhodes. It's huge. Semi's driving in and pulling trailers off. About 8 of them and most of them went back 2 or 3 times. Sitting at the back of the ferry watching Kos and Turkey disappear. Very bumpy. It's almost like we can feel the engine vibrations.
Well as it was still dark decided to do like the locals and sleep on the free couches. Note to ...

... used to grow in abundance around the island and at its peak had a population of over 22,000 supporting the divers and merchants, now the population is less than 3,000. You can still buy local sponges, the best coming from below 80 meters, and they are so much more impressive than what I have seen of felt before, amazingly elastic, and incredibly strong and apparently lasting up to a decade of regular use. Within 30 minutes of eventually finding my hotel in amongst ...

We took a 5 hour ferry ride to Rhodes. Rhodes is the largest island in the Dodecanese, in both land size and population. When we arrived in Rhodes it was very hot, and we had to walk Nanny and Poppy to their hotel which was located in the Medieval Old Town of the city. The old town has been declared a World Heritage Site which means they can never make any changes or renovations to it.
We spent five nights in Rhodes and spent some time in the Old Town walking the ...
