... site near red beach. This civilization was very smart. There are signs that they had running hot and cold water, flushing toilets and sewage systems. All done 1650BC. It was thought that they knew about the massive eruption before it happened and fled to Crete. But the 38meter high tsunami went all the way to Crete and wiped everyone out. Unfortunately we didn't have time to see the site.

... 8211; great story for the blog!

So here we are, on the ferry for eight hours and lots of time to blog. I just finished typing up day 2 and as I type this one, Alex is asleep on the floor and Jeff has just dozed off next to me. There is probably a nap in my future as well. Looking very forward to seeing Santorini. I will blog more once we get there.

What a terrific day! The ferry was awesome. Not only was the scenery incredible – I ...

He told us that the painting was of the Prophet Elias (Elijah) and showed us how the eyes of the prophet in the picture followed us from side to side! a trick of ...

So we have a new room and it is lovely. The room itself is on two floors with the bed up on a mezzanine floor. The balcony is just what we wanted with a view of the caldera and no-one passing in front. Today we went on a boat trip to the new volcano that is growing in the centre of the caldera. It is called Nea Kameni and first appeared above the water in197BC, so about 1500 years after the massive blow out that destroyed the Minoans. It has erupted several times since ...

Sunday - they day we'd been looking forward to the entire trip. We pulled up to Santorini, which I've always wanted to visit. It's where you see the iconic blue dome roofs in Greece, with rugged cliffs, blue waters and bright white buildings. When Michelle and I woke up, the captain was on the intercom saying that it was going to be a beautiful day in Santorini, and that we were the only cruise ship in town. Perfect.

We got dressed and ate breakfast with ...
