Today we wanted to see a bit of Singapore that was representative of an asian country so after breakfast (today chris had indian curry breakfast with a cappucino - he'll confirm this is not a combo to be repeated), we got a taxi to chinatown.

First we visited the Hindhi temple, Sri Mariamman, a smallish temple on one floor. Footwear removed, we rushed a little as the paving slabs were burning with heat from the sun, and it was soon to close, but we got a good feel of the ...

... the 24hr bus pass. I had $10 total. We apologised for wasting his time and retreated.

We strode off in search of an ATM, and after a bit of looking we found not one, but three in a nearby shopping mall. All three would not issue cash on my cards. Our first stop was to be the 'Pearl of SE Asia' at Pinang. Our plan was to beat a steady path there with an overnight anchorage at a small island about 50 miles out of Langkawi, then press on and anchor and explore the UNESCO city of Georgetown the following day. We again had very poor winds on this long trip, and ended up motoring the vast majority of the way. Frustrating, not to mention expensive! We got away late from Rebak after dealing with the payment for the parts ...

... 13 vs 7.. I still finished first. Oh and the apple cake wasn't bad either... (I have issues)... Actually.. you should compare that to what the Asians are eating... holy god.. those people can eat. They look at us like we are starving ourselves. Honestly this couple next to us had the following dishes: meatballs, chicken wings (I think they rival the meatballs), chips, rice (they gotta serve it), salmon salads, vegetables, pastries and I can't even remember what else, but there ...

... we would have plenty of provisions in the house to last through the festivities so we wouldn’t end up running out of the essentials (e.g. milk, eggs, cheese, avocados, mushrooms, gin). The Tuesday before CNY started Candace and I embarked on a typical shopping excursion, visiting the bank, the mall, the grocery store, and the wet market to get fresh fruits and vegetables. The only problem was that her car was in the shop for repairs, so we had to take a taxi to a rental ...
