... silly graffetti bits. While walking along here the clouds got greyer and the skies opened so we dashed to a hotel pirates den and stopped and had cake and coffee. Once the rain stopped Rickie walked us further into the east area and we walked along an area called Friedrichshaine where there are many derlict buildings with some amazing graffetti paintings. Breakfast at the circus was 9 euro and it was a very nice spread with beautiful bread, cheeses and meat. They had lovely yogurts. When we returned to our room we decided to try another hotel for the next two nights. Especially Pieter found the Circus very pretentious. He felt uncomfortable. So we booked at the Artim hotel on the west side. Checking out at the Circus we got a Berlin card for transports, some museums and lots of discounts. We took ...

This morning we said farewell to Andrzej and his family. They had been so very generous. Anna had gifted us 2 of her etchings. They are very much to our liking and will look great on the wall at home. Paul also appeared with a book about Polish nature which was very kind of him. We really enjoyed out time in Bilgoraj. Andrzej made sure we got on the correct bus for Krakow. 44 pln each. The bus was a lot older and creakier than ...

... conditions. The first area that was used during the soviet times was disgusting. The rooms were shocking and the interrogations and torture was so disgusting. We also heard many accounts of who got taken into the prisons. So many for basically no reason at all. They got forced to admit to something they didn't do. Some of it was a little bit over our heads but we had a good time and left wanting to know more about the history of Germany. It was €5 for a 2 hour ...

... Ian- we walked along side the zoo but did not go in. There is a special car rental place here too. On the 'communist' side of the wall, you can rent an old Soviet-made car. You can also buy gas masks and Soviet flags. Really! Berlin has all the usual big city problems that we have not seen so far this trip: homeless, beggars, gypsies. I think we will go back to traveling to smaller ...
