Flower of Scotland

Fun trip to Murrayfield for Scotland v Fiji.....lots of happy Scottish faces after the win, boys in fancydress, stag parties galore, chuc-chucs ferrying folks home in the rain, great cocktails in an Italian Jazz bar and running to catch last train back home on a busy busy Saturday night train heading South.

Gone Golfin'

... me to the conclusion that Irish, Scottish and British people are the nicest, most friendly people in the world. After we arrived we were trying to find our hostel, which proved to be a bit difficult in the dark and there wasn't exactly anyone around to ask. We strolled into a hostel that appeared to have a reception desk and they looked up the directions for us and we were off on our way (incident #2). We finally reached the correct street but were still a little ...

... couple miles to and from the city so by the time we got there we were starving. We went out to eat at this nice Mexican restaurant and walked around the New City and the Royal Mile. That evening we went on a tour to the houses that are under the royal mile. We had an excellent tour guide, and it was really neat learning about when people used to live in the houses in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Yesterday we had breakfast at the hotel, which served some of the best bacon I ...

... to Charles Avery's The Islanders, a work-in-progress that describes in drawing, painting, sculpture and text the topology and cosmology of an imaginary island." For more detail the website is: http://www.nationalgalleries.org/whatso n/exhibition/5:368/5842/ This was a really cool exhibit, done by a Scottish artist. Castles, Kilts, and Aged Single-Malt

... point in my near future. There is too much natural beauty, family history, and too many castles not to. As the train sped along, I at least was able to glimpse what I missed. A beautiful country of the closest things resembling mountains I've seen since arriving in the UK. In terms of color, England is very green, but Wales is a thousand different kinds of green. Vibrantly different hues in the trees, plants, and grasses. The train ride was long and had one change in a town ...

... to them.... this is not a technique we intend to learn or participate in. Due to the bank holiday there were lots of people out and about enjoying the fine weather. We visited YP's favourite Coffee Spot - Starbucks. This particular store overlooked the Edinburgh Castle, very spectacular! We bought lunch and took it across to the gardens over looking the Castle. We found out that a cannon is fired from the castle ramparts at 1pm everyday, so we set ...

... bowling, through the axe at wood, etc. We managed to spend a few hours here. Nikki and Angie went home with a free cherry tree. I don't know what they are going to do with it when they move into their flat?? After we left we stopped at a big supermarket. I organised to have dinner at Judy's new place- (she moved in last night) as she has a kitchen ...

Playing in the Playground

Today, we treked up then down a volcano in the hot hot sun. It was as much fun as three girls could have on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Renee, Arianne, and I decided that a game in the playground down at the bottom would be fitting after such an excursion. We swung high our feet touching the sky. We stretched our weary legs on the merry-go-round and taught a future photographer how to take her first pictures. There were some ...
