We decided to have a slight lie in this morning after yesterday's exercise. We then went to Mary Queen of Peace Church which had large white ribbons hanging over the pews and joining in the middle. There were also some children's decorations hanging down. The church was in a lovely condition but in a slightly run down part of town, built in Soviet times. ... to the hostel was just about all we could manage and we collapsed on the bed exhausted! The saddles really were excruciatingly uncomfortable. After highly enjoyable showers we went for dinner at a restaurant on the river side called "Memel" which was recommended by our hostel receptionist. The exhibition was set out over many floors and discussed the history of Klaipeda, previously known as Memel. It was very interesting and covers the founding by the Knights of the Sword in the 13th century right up until just after the Second World War. ... forest to the port, more lovely little buildings with wind dials made by families to show the colours of home and represent what home means; family members and warmth. The wind dials use to be on the old boats but now sit in the parks or outside homes.
