... in Norway are Lutheran. It is an amazing structure built entirely of wood, even joined together by wooden pegs. It has remained as well preserved as it is due to the very dry and cold climate. It is also an area which receives very little snow as it is in a valley protected by mountains on all sides. It was well worth a visit as I have never seen a church of this kind before. Rather than being a 'tourist cruise' this is actually a local ferry stopping and picking/dropping off passengers at all the local towns. While it does make the cruise last longer it lets you see a lot more of the local communities.

... was one of those rare moments when we all three realized that we'd just done something we knew we'd never forget. Truly a memory of a lifetime.

The sun remained the entire day and we made a short walk through town late in the afternoon. K and I walked the verandah deck around 5:00pm, as they were removing the mooring lines and we slowly inched our way from the dock, as a small crowd of locals gathered on a grassy overlook to wave us good-bye.

... good it felt to hear this Swede say that here was only one more big pile for us to negotiate.
After that it was mostly all down hill. We had started at 1220 m and climbed to just over 1300 before we started down towards Myrdal and Flåm. It was gorgeous. It was hairy. I had to take a break to adjust my front brake because it was wearing off. After taking 14 very steep switchbacks below ...

After about an hour we finally reached the biggest waterfall we could find, visible from everywhere in the valley, and had a simple picnic lunch down by the bank of the river it fed.
