We are the first tour bus to arrive for the day so we quickly head through the town and up the hill (via the traditional donkey of course) to reach the top before the thousands of other tourists start flocking in. I now had to keep up with two donkeys who run up this mountain a hundred times a day, between the gradient, the rocky path way, the donkey droppings that coated the path and weight of the night before I was was buggered trying to keep up. Kids on the other hand were full of encouragement - "Dad this is soo cool, did you see the view? Dad, Dad, keep up!"

Final morning. Said goodbye to Ipek and Silar our wonderful hosts. They really are exceptional people. Ipek for her hosting qualities and Silar for knowing everybody in Turkey (it seemed) and for fixing anything that went wrong on anybodies boat. From Rhodes, we took a 3 hour ferry to Symi, an incredibly delightful island. A small island, the dwellings and infrastructure are essentially heritage listed so they all retain the character of the previous centuries. The port is really beautiful, like something you see in movies. It is surrounded by mountains and the houses are built up onto the slopes.
