After Trier, we headed to Cologne to see the cathedral. Cologne is a big city and we had a heck of time finding the parking and then lugging our stuff into the hotel--a little stressful :). Once we got settled, we headed straight to the cathedral. It's a bit like the grand canyon in that you can't appreciate just how big it is until you experience in person. I couldn't get far enough back to get the ...

I had a really good sleep and felt refreshed after the rather tiring first day. I had a shower (hotel showers are just amazing) then went down for breakfast, there was a great selection of food that was a help yourself buffet ranging from a full cooked breakfast to a lighter continental choice or both if you were very hungry, I opted for a cooked breakfast, very similar to a full English but the bacon was cut really thinly, almost see through, the sausages were small ...

Time to turn in now and recharge my batteries.

... to "old beer". In Dusseldorf there are nine places which brew and serve their own altbier, and the way they serve it is both interesting and dangerous. The bar tenders/waiters walk around with these specially designed carriers full of beer glasses. They will continuously give you a new beer and make a slash mark on your coaster to count how many beers you have had. They will continually change your beer unless you put your coaster on top of your glass, ...

... to park her car. You should see how they put the cars in this group garage! 2 cars to each spot using a lift. The most fascinating thing!

I like Angela's place. It is so quiet and peaceful. I finally took a shower. The bathroom looks different than in the US, but still very similar.

Angela made us a healthy salad for lunch. I have agreed with myself before the trip to try all things at least once. I tried it and what I ...
