November in Trowbridge

I think I ended up back in Trowbridge at the best time of the year... lol What with Halloween and Guy Fawkes night!!

I was a little exhausted when I got back. I think I was happy to be somewhere where I didn't have to literally live out of my suitcase!

While I was back, I opened a bank account and also applied for my national insurance number so I can work in the UK. It was a fairly short process because I have a British passport! I've applied ...

... about a wine bar in Trowbridge we might like to visit before getting on the train to Bath cause we were a little early. No problem, so another pint and then we realised we had to rush for the train.. we had to run over the connecting bridge at the train station and I distinctly remember my cousin yelling at me 'I thought you were the fit one!!' lol not after two pints of cider I'm not, knowing my luck I'd fall down the stairs ...

Stonehenge and Bath

... and have it be like a social gathering. There is a room like a hot sana, the warm baths, a cold one, etc. We spent a good hour there and it was very interesting! Following the baths, we walked around the city. We passed Jane Austen's house, saw the Royal Crescent which is a super huge building shaped like a crescent that faces a park, went by Pulteney Bridge which is ...

Day trip to ancient city of Bath

... be before they meet again. We all took the terrific hop-on/hop-off bus around the town to get our bearings. Not much time for a lot else unfortunately, due to 4 hr return trip to Crowhurst Park......tiring & long but a great day out! Had we the opportunity to do this all over again, we would allow more time to be able to investigate Bath at a more leisurely pace, that's for sure!

Narrowboating on Kennet & Avon Canal

... a boat where some others were already moored. Not to worry though, the boat never did develop a hole, and we safely and warmly remained sleeping in our normal beds and not floating bunks. 24 March 2008 - Monday It was stipulated that our boat should be back at the Marine by 9am sharp or else we'd incur a charge for being late as the boat would not necessarily then be ready for the next group to board that day. Again, an early morning rise before heading through the ...

So long, England!

... but it was great fun. I even jumped off some impressively high cliffs! Well, I was terrified, so it looked impressive to me, but if the 12 year olds in our group could do it... I am running out of time here, so I need to cut this short sorry. We were blessed to have the company of our friends Priscilla and Alison for Heidi's birthday, and travelling with Priscilla for a few days was great. We have a Scripture Union camp to do this week, then to Dover. After that we are ...

Visiting Bath

... tasty sandwich there. And of course, good tea. Rob pointed us in the direction of the Jane Austen Center, something I was obviously interested in seeing. However, a flier that Tory had found didn't impress me-it seemed very cheesy and very attached to the popular, particularly in England, of BBC productions of her films. As we approached the center, my concerns were not alleviated. There was a statue outside of the ...
