Today started sunny and we set off walking. Walked up hill and then down to the edge of Lake Derwentwater, to Hawes End, then along the shore to High Brandle How. Beautiful scenery of hills and the lake, but got wetter and wetter.

Despite the appalling weather forecast "rain and possible storms", woke to a lovely day. John had a rest day, doing computer stuff. Theresa, David and I went walking up the nearest ...

... the worst part of the trail by far and it is a mile from there straight to the top.... and so it began.

He was definitely proven right about the hill. I'm sure that hill has beat many a man down. It's like tilting your treadmill straight up at the sky and walking a mile. Thankfully the trekking poles came in handy. Almost all the way up thinking it couldn't get much worse and it did. Jesus said, "Let there be mud.".....and so the mud shown. I had ...
