... of Melbourne there was just me and a bunch of scary-**** road trains.
In Wangaratta now and I've got to move these refrigerators, I’ve got to move these colour TVs.
What I watched: Celebrity Masterchef – really what was I thinking – oh yeah – Rachel Finch (fellas – trust me – look her up!)
What I listened to: To continue the theme of 'pick a band, play all the tracks ...
Wow, a lots has happened.. I've been extremely busy, sorry I haven’t updated the blog in a while.. So where was I? Thursday last week.. Alright so Friday was really quiet and on Saturday we had a party at Steve’s house – it was loose and loads of fun! We like played ping pong all night and tried desperately to get to the city – without success since I was making sure nobody drove ;) and had great kebabs at 2 in the ...
Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia inkaluhrs... and that it deserved another, slower visit. I think Beechworth residents are so lucky to have this park, literally, on their doorsteps. I'm sure they use it a lot for early morning walks with the dog, and we saw a few joggers during our ride. Chris told me yesterday more tourists arrive as the day gets older and it's certainly a special place to visit with a road running all the way through (one way) with short walking tracks leading off ...
Milawa, Victoria, Australia cheli... with my Aunt further down the road starting to pull off all her layers.
The ride took us through farmland which wasn't quite so interesting to look at but Erin eventually caught us up, having taken a wrong turn three times ;) As we turned into the midway check point the rest of the group were just getting ready to leave so in the end it was just Erin and I taking a short rest. We decided to take our time but get started on riding without a long break - I was ...
Today was a travelling day, from Kiama to Benella, about 650km altogether. Weather was cool but no rain and the ride was quite scenic but not too challenging.
Took off into the back roads on entering Victoria and went thru Beechworth and some of the foothill highways still heading towards Melbourne. Finally rejoined the main highway at Benella where I stopped for the night, only about 200km north of Melbourne now.
... head for X town, turn off for the limestone quarry, then follow the signs to Holey Plains camping area.' In some cases, this would have sufficed, but for the few details it left out... namely 'turn off the highway and head for Y town before heading for X town', always an important one, the fact that the limestone quarry was called Calcimo or something equally helpful, and the fact that once one reached the State Park, there was a 7km drive along a very long and winding road. Hence, by ...
Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia wherever... While we were here we traveled to Benalla for some supplies as they had an Aldi and a Target for Cherie. We spent a day in town visiting the Ned Kelly musuem and walking over hallowed ground as we walked and stood were the seige at Glenrowan took place to end the Ned Kelly gang. I felt sad and felt very proud to be Australian as it was hard to imagine what it was like living under those ********ditions. Even the next day while driving I felt a quiet eriness ...
Glenrowan, Victoria, Australia serenitynow... the tours are quite rushed. We also intend on going inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu. My contact in Egypt has been ever so helpful. More than I could possibly expect from someone that I don't really know very well. Nothing has been too much trouble for him. I am very impressed. I hope this is a indication of future Egyptian hospitality. I know that from previous travels that locals appreciate and make more of an ...
Wangaratta, Australia shazlex... which we reached towards the end of the afternoon. We had just enough time before nightfall to find our way to yet another lovely campsite at a place called Nug Nug, just south of Myrtleford. It's autumn here did we mention that? So what a lovely time to visit, the trees are in their autumn finery. This is where we need an artist to tell you the colours because they ranged through from dusty pinks to reds the colour of a good merlot wine, golden ...
Wangaratta, Australia westwoods... River!!) developed into a little bit of outback carnage, as we befriended three fellow campers next to us and joined up for a 'bit of a drink' around their campfire. I was doing OK until after midnight, but then the Aussie port came out and that was the end of that. I'm not sure when it all wound down, but it wasn't early. Comparing notes with equally sore heads in the morning a consensus was reached that I managed to find a "sportman's size pair of wobbly boots" for my trip home ...
