Historical Traveler Reviews of Linden House London
Basic fare
from TowersDublin
This hotel is very basic. The rooms are tiny and the ensuites minute. The level of cleanliness is not good either.
Location wise it is brilliant for central London with access to the Tube only a two minute walk.
Depressing and Cramped
from TiarePrincess
My fiance and I stayed at the Linden House hotel for our European vacation and it was our least favourite of all the hotels in Europe. The room was tiny and the bed linen not very clean looking. The room was hot and stuffy and the hotel had no lift which made carrying luggage difficult.
The staff were bland and the waitresses in the breakfast room did not speak very good english. The breakfast was not enjoyable. My toast was growing a piece of fungus and my fiance's egg had a hair in it. We just got out of there very quickly.
The receptionist did allow us to leave our luggage in the foyer after we had checked out.
The rate was relatively cheap for a room in London, but next time I would definately pay extra and stay elsewhere.

The hotel location is perfect, 1 minut walking from Paddington station, the room was very, nice breakfast, friendly stuff and very cheap price for London hotels.
Excellent value at a budget price
from TPC208
Came to London for a short break / theatre trip and found the Linden House Hotel whilst seaching the web.
The hotel is in the "budget" price league, but the accommodation is very reasonable, especially when compared to other hotels in the London city area - 3 nights for the price of 2 was a real bonus. The hotel could do with some modernisation and redecoration, but it was comfortable and had everything we needed.
The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was superb.
If you want top quality accommodation then this hotel is not for you, however if you want reasonable, clean, comfortable accommodation, at a good price, then the Linden House Hotel is well worth a try.
The Dregs
from Appricena
The Linden House was not a pleasant experience. For eighty nine pounds It offered too little for too much. The room was like the size of a shoe box and drab & depressing. The lighting choices in the room were harsh and harsher. The only positive thing that I can say is the breakfast was decent. Bottom line: There are much better accomodations in the immediate area for about the same amount. We checked out and went to the Hilton on Bayswater.
Worst choice

I've been in 14 (!) B&B across UK before and compare to them Linden House Hotel has:
1. Terrible service. I had to change 3 rooms and noone even apologized for the inconvenience. They behave like they're doin a favor for letting me stay in their hotel.
2. Worst and smallest english breakfast ever.
3. A little bit dirty rooms.
Now, from what i see in London, there's a plenty of other small B&B's and hotels with lower price. I paid about 62GBP per night (double room) at Linden House.
Recommendation: do yourself a favor - find something better.
Cheap but not so cheerful

Visited hear on a weekend to London with my fiance
We were on a tight budget so this place fitted the bill. Booked with london-nights and got 2 nights for the price of three, so far so good!
The location in Paddington is great, it is about 300 yards from the Paddington tube so location is excellent.
However I cannont give it a higher score as the accomodation is only very basic. Clean but slightly dilapidated. No lifts and we were on the third floor, ensuite is tiny.
If you are on a budget and dont care about quality, just location, then this might fit the bill, it is reasonably priced. However if you are looking for something more then maybe spend a little more and go somewhere else.
For the very budget concious,a clean place to sleep
from A TripAdvisor Member
The place could use some remodeling, wallpaper hanging loose and the top floors especially look run down and grungy in the halls, but the tiny single I slept in was clean and the shower was hot. The staff was very friendly and professional, the breakfasts were good, and the location was excellent, just north of Hyde Park in Sussex Gardens. A very nice safe area for walkabouts. I was on a stay 3, get 4 free special so it averaged 30 pounds a night for a single ensuite with breakfast included!A good value but somewhat rundown. I would stay there again but I wouldn't bring the wife there.

This is a very nice budget hotel. The staff was very friendly and the English breakfast was a real good English breakfast. The room was very clean. 3 min walk from Paddington station. Felt like a safe area. The only minus was that the mattress was worn out. For the price and location, I would recommend this hotel.
Linden House - Perfect location for women travellers
from Karinina
This small, friendly family hotel is perfect for women travellers. You are one block from Paddington Station, which takes you directly to the center of London on one subway (to Picadilly Circus). Paddington is always bright and busy so you have absolutely no concerns about coming in late after a night at the theatre. That was the best part.
Also, the rooms are immaculate, the staff very friendly, the breakfast superb, and the rates extremely reasonable. 85 pounds for a twin room. You cannot go wrong. Oh yes, the hotel has at least six to ten restaurants within a block, is in an area with other hotels, and within a block of an internet cafe. All in all, a safe, inviting experience for the unwary traveller.
