... to note that no one in Holland appears to take VISA cards. In fact
credit cards are not much use here. Apparently the people are almost boycotting
credit cards as a way of protesting the high charges attached to credit card
transactions. These charges are around 5.5% which is very comparable to our
charges in South Africa. The difference here is that the people are prepared to

Our field was absolutely deserted so we let Prego have a good run around. ...

Walked into town and had my haircut. A great feeling to have it cut after so long. Then to the bakery to say hi to Eva. We went for a walk in the afternoon to the Makkum beach and a quiet beer. Then a nice evening and dinner in a very old restaurant by the canal. It's great to live so close to walk to the shops restaurants beach harbour in a town with plenty interesting of ...

... a better hostess or family to hang out with for the last few days.

We had lunch in the city square and then Bart went off to work. Jacquelien bought a couple of tourist maps of Alkmaar and we did the city walking tour for the afternoon. It was excellent! Alkmaar is a beautiful little town/city with canals running all through the streets (as you'd expect) and lots of really nice little houses. We got really lucky with ...
