... south. It took forever to get through the border, 90 minutes! The Canadians drive to Washington state for gas, groceries, etc because it is so much cheaper. But it really clogs the border.

Anyway, BACK ON THE ROAD!!

Lots and lots of driving now.

Something we are not used to, being from Washington, is that Montana road sides are filled with little white crosses. They are there in memory of victims of traffic accidents. It is pretty scary how many there are. We drove for a couple of hours and I swear we were seeing at least one every 30 seconds or so.

... to stay awake now, but had a little conversation with my neighbor on the aisle, just back from fishing in Mexico. He said he had been to Paris once, but decided there were too many people, and he would rather go and catch fish somewhere. I smiled politely, but thought how this trip had given Dan and me a taste of a lot of sights and places, and just whetted our appetite to return someday to see some places we weren't able to really experience...and Paris was on ...

... open . . . so I walked down to find out . . . but on the way passed another (newer) venue, The Lodge, . . . a sort of upscale sports bar. Lots of wood, a rustic feel, and large booths . . . and not too busy at 2:00 p.m.!! I got a menu to show Carol.

... on the till and decided to 'times by four minus two'. We didnt argue its the cheapest bottle of wine ever... Saw bald eagle and osprey in town.... The drive started going through the Cascade mountains....interesting, but for the next three hours driving past spuds, peas, sweetcorn, wheat....
