... just a small selection!
Another amazing place that we visited was an Open Air Museum at an area called Goreme. Apparently Paul (he of the Letters to the Corinthians, etc) decided that Goreme was a good place to train missionaries in the 4th Century. There is some geological explanation involving volcanic erruptions, erosion, etc but the end result is the weirdest landscape of soft rock that can be easily carved with a hard-rock ...
... the Haman and decided to venture inside. After being lead to separate changing rooms and given a wrap cover up, we were both led into the steam area. Started by laying in a steam room on a giant slab of hot marble for 15 minutes, followed by being led to another slab of warm marble for a 15 minute scrub and lathering, called peeling; with more bubbles than I've ever seen. Weirdly, we expected same sex to be working on us, ...
... a lighthouse. From there we got great views across the Gulf of Antalya but unfortunately the mountains were covered with clouds. Then on to the lovely crescent shaped harbour with it's mix of old fishing boats, tourist boats, and modern yachts. Up the hill through the souvenir shops we walked to the Yivli Minare Mosque which was built in the13th century. It has an elegant fluted minaret and is the towns symbol.
... and salad. The hungry us just gobbled everything down.
We then headed to the old city of Side. Wow turkey really has many of these old cities remains that are still sorta standing and it's just lovely to walk amongst them! We hit the sea front right in front of the Apollo temple where we watched the lovely sunset with Apollo temple (or what is left of it) behind us.
What a nice way to end the leisure ...
I decided to split these from the overall Antalya experience because they were extras that required a bit more traveling & a bit more adventuring, but they were both awesome!
After freshening up from our travels to Antalya, we walked through the less touristy areas of the city to take a bus to Perge. This is now an outdoor museum of sorts, but it was once an ancient Greek city. It took us a while to get to the ruins (15+km ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Limak Atlantis Deluxe Hotel & Resort Belek
im only 5ft but i soon had to take on the ruskies. the germans were terrified of the maffia ha nice to see now and then.if the noise just gets the better of you at the pool witch it will. for pittys sake dont leave your sun launger for any longer than 10 min , or leave grandad on duty,it will bring him so many memories even hell have somthing to talk about, even the UN could not organise or get it back.anyway back to why ER well the family and i thought they were filming. i have never seen so many people with broken bones, bandages ,drips, yes i said drips . my OH even thought abaut becoming a doctors aid as he was raking it in and he was VERY expensiv. food not bad had to kick a few shins but the meek will get no where. staff will help if there is blood involved.animation team do there best but take over the main pool alot. rooms are ok as long as you dont get block 3. in all not a bad hol. as you can tell we like abit of action and a laugh as the germans have lost control and there crown to the ruskies who are unbelievable.who ever let them OUT.
We arrived early in the morning and we waited over an hour for our luggage which meant that we could not go to sleep.
My husband & I have recently returned from a weeks break at the Atlantis.
Just got back from Atlantis Resort Belek, we had children of 11 and 13 years, the animation team were great and the children were kept busy for most of the time. The food was what we expected and although repeated there was plenty to choose from (though it could have been warmer), we went to the Italian al-a-cart where the meal was fabulous. Staff very friendly especially Ismet and nothing was too much trouble. The room was fine cleaned every day, fridge refilled every day with water, soda and pepsi, the safe costs 1.50 euros per day. Take euros everything priced in euros although they do take lira, the outdoor pools were too cold to swim in but the indoor pool was great. There were lots of different nationalities and we all mixed very well.
Absolutely loved it
This holiday was absolutely fantastic, the hotel was fabulous and the staff even more so, the food wasn't great but thats not the be all and end all of a holiday in my opinion. I was unfortunate enough to fracture my foot while there, and the staff couldn't have been more helpfull especially the Manager. The animation team were fantastic and the evening shows were very pofessional, a special thanks to Ike and Umit for making my holiday memerable. The mini club was great for the kids and you knew they were safe with the team, I would definately return to Atlantis next year.
I stayed at Atlantis just 2 weeks ago and it was the best holiday I have ever had, I miss the place so much and will most likely be returning there again. Couldn't fault it. Went with my toddler, my brother sister, mum and her OH.
WOO HOOOOOOOOO ATLANTIS!
hi we went to the atlantis in october 2005, the hotel is beautiful, and the pools are really nice to, quite a few to choose from, we did,nt think alot of the beach,a to be honest, there was my husband myself and our three children, ages 3, 8,and 11, we did find they got a little bored sometimes especially the few days of rain we had, there is nothing for the children or adults to do when the weather is bad, the kids club looked great but we found it was it was more for the russians and germans, than the english, be aware this hotel is also a conference hotel as well as a holiday hotel and we found the buisness people took over, the hotel is imaculatly clean, the staff were ok, some better than others, our biggest moan is the food is it absolutly discusting, we actually lost weight coming here as we were eating bread and soup most nights, also lots of others were complaing regarding the food here, the alcarte was ok and only ok, overall the hotel is nice but we will never come here again, as we felt such a minority, and unwelcome as the hotel had lots of germans and russians, also we would not rate this hotel 5 star more like a 3 star. s.pope.
Good for kids
my wife, two friends and myself spent two weeks at the atlantis, the facilities are really good but the food was nowhere near 5* standard and often cold, using the a al carte the food was a little better. if you have children this an ideal hotel however there is nowhere to sit and have quiet time. the animation team are excellent in the daytime activities but the nighttime entertainment does not come up to standard. the waiters and staff are excellent and can,t do enough for you,the rooms are spacious and adequate.due to the poor standard of the food this hotel cannot be rated 5* we have eaten better in 3*
I went to this resort in May 05 with my partner and 2 kids, Daughter aged 14 and Son aged 3. It was absolutely super the hotel is excellent and now i am unable to go anywhere else as i find myself comparing everywhere to Here. We spoiled ourself coming here. The hotel is fantastic, always spotless, the food is alright, i didnt think it was too great but my partner assures me it was ok. The weather is great, and the Animation Team are Fantastic, they make you feel really welcome and are so friendly. My partner gave Umed ( JIMMY ) his Home Rangers Top before he left ( as he kept taking it and wearing it when we were sunbathing). and gave Namo his Away Rangers Top and they were well chuffed. They even came out to say goodbye and waved us off when we were leaving, which i thought was great. The dedication of the Animation Team is outstanding. My Daughter thought this was the best holiday ever, ( i believe Nico might have had something to do with that). Unfortunately we were unable to book the Atlantis for next year, But we managed to get booked up at the Arcadia Hotel in Belek, which i am lead to believe is just as good. One thing i will say about the hotel is. We lost our little boy one night (he decided to go for a little hurl in the lift), and the staff were fantastic, within seconds of reporting it, the full place was crawling with staff and security. They were everywhere searching even the beach. Thankfully we got our son back safe and well. but the responce of the hotel was amazing. I would recommend anyone to go here, and if you do please tell the Animation Team that Fran Grant and Kim and Robbie said Hi.
Hello!!!!!!!! or should I say "merhaba"
I just came home from there and I wish I were there, because it was fantastic to be there.
I donīt remember his name who was the referee of waterpolo, but I think he remembers us, because I am a member of Team Finland, the goalkeeper.
Gongratulations for Nemo and Alexandra(or was it Alexandra... I donīt remember, but gongratulations anyway) and thank you all for this wonderful experience.
