We took an overnight bus from Butterworth on the west coast of the Peninsula to Kuala Besut on the east coast. Neither of us got any sleep as the driver would switch all the lights on every time we got to a stop, and there were many through the night. At 5.30am we arrived at our destination pretty exhausted and wanting a bed. We had to wait 1 1/2 hours at the ...

... seen so much seafood all at the same time before. There was squid, fish, bugs, crab, prawns and stingrays. Amazing is the only word for it really and I was again so honoured to have been asked to join this family for this dinner. With a population of about 100,000 or so it has a pleasant laidback feel. Id arrived too late to catch the local bus from the airport to the town centre and was too much of a scrooge to pay an offensively high price for an 'airport taxi’ so after bargaining with an unlicensed taxi driver and starting to walk into town to hitch a normal taxi along ...

After a few more days of fun diving and contemplating what to do next (and getting harassed by everyone to stay longer) we made the decision to stay and I was going to do the dive master course! A dive master is one below an instructor who helps assist instructors, can lead other qualified students on dives and teach beginners and take them to a maximum of 12 metres and gets payed to do so. Another bonus of doing the dive master ...
