      ... boulevard at the heart of historic Berlin & thought to be the grandest street in the city. We passed many major sites but the highlight was the Brandenburg Gate and the beautiful Reichstag. This building, now the German Parliment, mixes the grandeur of old-world architecture with a modern glass dome that sits on top of it. It is quite stunning to see lit-up & glowing at night.

      ... The food was truly Norwegian-style with plenty of fish and vegetables. The least successful dish paired scallops & corned beef - not my favorite, a little too outside the box putting seafood & meat together. The most successful was a tie between the carrots with smoked cheese & pumpkin ice cream with camomile cream. The atmosphere was truly memorable and the service was impeccable

      ... they started boarding. We must have been finished boarding in 15 minutes max. There were only 50-100 people on the flight (it could have held at least three times more than it did, and there were many open rows and almost everyone seemed to have their own row). Since we had trouble finding an airline that would fly Oslo to Salzburg we ended up on an Air Berlin flight. Boy was that refreshing. Don't get me wrong, I love the cheap transport through Europe.       ... not "weener" , but rather pronounced "Vee-ner", since it means a schnitzel like they make it in Vienna, which city in German is called "Wien"' or "Veen"). Similarly, the slang we use for "hot dogs" is interesting; "wiener" (we pronounce it "weener") really refers to a sausage which originated in Vienna made from a mixture of pork and beef, while "frankfurter" indicates a pork sausage like they enjoy in the German financial capital.

      ... halls. Back on route we set our sights on a look around Salzburg. Another slow 3 hour drive we arrived well after dark and after bloody tommy took us through straight through massive convention centre car park to get there which we had to pay €1.50 to get out of(?!). Parked up river side, found loads of shops selling traditional attire... Didn't look at prices - then jumped in at he nearest reasonably priced place for a schnitzel. Had a salad bar - one ...
