Sound of Music: When I last left you, I was heading out to the Sound of Music bus excursion. Smaltzy, but I loved it. 50 years ago, in 1965, the movie was made here in Salzburg (and indoor scenes inside in a Hollywood studio). We went to all the sites of major parts of the film, saw many familiar buildings and recognizable sites, and learned about fact and fiction regarding the Von Trapps. Our guide was an Austrian from Salzburg, who had lived in Boston for 10 years some years ...

Reminded me of when I was in Bangkok a number of years ago, and was also staying at a much more lowly hotel accommodation, and found it a must to eat at the Oriental Hotel now and then! This entry is coming one day late because somehow my post from yesterday got lost in the virtual world - not sure if I am in love with travelpod so far, but I suppose it will do. :) So, yesterday! Some classes even got up and danced a line dance to Rocky Top Tennessee!! We gave out 60 t-shirts from Walker Valley ...

... visited the main Catholic Church there which was also stunning. We talked to the cleaner (not sure if he was a priest) and then lit a candle for a prayer. We then had plenty of time to look around the shops which were lovely- many cool clothing shops- but expensive. Dinner was back at the Royal hotel which is over 100 years old and run by a family who own it. It was beautiful accomodation with amazing ...

... years later where perhaps, he might have stood! Wow-yes it appears I am a Mozart groupie.

We went out to the pub that night and a guy told me how beautiful I looked in German-I suppose that is rather flattering as I was wearing that ridiculous Austrian costume. Although, somehow I seem to pull period pieces off.

Anyways, Salzburg was a delight; as Maria would say "a drop of golden sun" and I would love to return there.
