We have arrived early so it is very quiet. Sharon explains the river is known locally as Jinsha Jiang which means the river of golden sands. Apparently by November the river will turn a beautiful green / blue colour due to high copper content. It is brown at the moment as it the end of ...

So many things amuse us, especially the 'lost in translation' signs, our favourite being "E-intestine package" for a type of sausage - not one that we'll be sampling! We are also very surprised how vain many of the young Chinese women are. They are constantly looking at themselves in mirrors, taking selfies on the mass of selfie sticks around the place. It's great to see all your comments droppings into my email, as well as comments within emails from other people. Things suddenly moved fast on the ship front. ... rain as we approach the guesthouse, not enough to wet us, but enough to realise how lucky our timing is. We lunch langorously, eking enjoyment out of every remaining minute, before our chariot arrives to drive us back to Lijiang. There is something ineffable in the soul that craves the embrace of the ranges; I know not what, I cannot name it, but I always appreciate it B: Ditto ;).

*'Possible' here means in one's imagination, i.e. completely impossible.
