    ... of much of Yunnan during this time. The sculptures were very detailed and colourful, I don’t know if this is due to restoration or if the colour has stayed all these years. Either way it was interesting, the kingdom was Buddhist so some of the carvings were of Buddhist deities and there was even a sculpture of a vagina which apparently would be worshipped (and they would ask this statue for fertility).     ... return journey, because we will be arriving, and therefore leaving, Australia earlier than planned. And that swung it. This means we plan to arrive in Laos next week, and then go through Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar before heading to Singapore in late November.     ... We had two more days in the area, wandering, shopping, relaxing. We also visited another village in the mountains a couple hours away. Then we got the train back to Kunming and flew back home to Henan province. We put in a lot of miles in Yunnan - on trains and on foot, but the blue skies and sunshine really helped to refresh us and prepare us for the spring semester ahead.
