        ... along the path, plunging down from Haba Snow Mountain into the gorge below. Most are traversed by bridges of some description. However, towards the 'end' (well, my end anyway) a waterfall cascades down the mountain side and flows directly across the path before continuing headlong down the mountain side. With the path littered by rocks, most of which are neither stable nor reliable, footing is uncertain at best (although thankfully they weren't too slippery). ...

        ... after observing how the locals did their purchases at this stall we were able to buy 15 rolls for 5 yuan (quite a better deal for only 1 dollar!) Live and learn... ;-)).

        ... hotel, we were disappointed to find the staff very unfriendly, seemingly intimidated to have laowai staying at their guesthouse. The joint was run by a bunch of teenagers and their pack of eczema-covered canines, who had no concept of hospitality ("Sorry, no breakfast today") or adhering to the universal hotel and hostel rule of "keeping noise to a minimum after 10pm."         ... pretty red lanterns everywhere it is an attractive town. The fact that every building has stalls selling goods or restaurants makes it seem at times like a number of touristy 'old towns' that we have visited, but the attractiveness of the cobbled lanes and the lure of eating and drinking places overlooking trees and water give it an ambience that is very pleasant.
