The old boy normally gets a lot of strange looks, and today was no different, but it was because all the Italians were wrapped up in coats and scarves and jeans etc. but he was wandering about in t-shirt and shorts. We had to toast bread in the oven, boil the kettle on the hotplate, and she had a very creepy looking son who wore his shorts way too high, and we were all scared that he was an axe-murderer. ... from the earpieces you wear for all tours these days. The cord to Mike's earpiece got ripped out altogether, destroying the bit that goes in your ear. It fell in pieces across a beautiful mosaic floor in the palazzo, leaving part of it still in his ear. First the pain hit his face, then a shocked look as he thought he had gone deaf because he couldn't hear due to the little piece still being in his ear.
