... On ship for 5 hours stopping at all little amazing towns dropping of all the tourists at little ports on the way. Eventuality arrived at Peschiera at 7.45pm. Went straight to restaurant near our hotel feeling rather smelly and dirty but needed food and a drink first. Beautiful view looking over the lake with the moon shining over it. Had a great meal then off to hotel in the dark, had to turn on our bike lights as was really dark by now.

Nevertheless the drive was one of the most memorable uphill treks we could have wished for. It's not rocket science but it's just not possible to drive up a mountain in an old van without going slow; I don't hold it against ...

... which was challenging for under-powered little cars from the distant past, but immense fun. Eventually we made it to the top of Stelvio with a lot of tyre rubber left behind but smiles still on our faces. (Not sure that the navigators enjoyed it as much.) The trip down the other side was more controlled but we were amazed by the number of motorcyclists, bicyclists, roller skiers and even walkers undertaking the climb in the opposite direction by then.

So! Today we had a big day!

Last night I barely slept because I have been looking for hotels we can stay in for Rome. I didn't find one but I had fun looking! We drove up to Fresine which is about 1.5 hours from Bergamo by car. It's in the mountains and is super fresh and cool.

We woke up at 7:30am and headed towards Davide's uncle and Aunties house as they too were joining us for the day. We stopped off at a bakery on the way ...
