... to be different and pick the exotic ham sandwich. To stick in budget we declined drinks and stuck to the warm water from our water-bottles. By the time we'd finished lunch Emma's sun cravings were in full drive. We found a place on the grass which had a tree for shade and a perfect spot big enough for Emma to bask in the sun. Later on we (except Lucy) went for a swim in the lake. A treacherous journey, as the lake took ages to get deep enough to swim. ...

Running and throwing ourselves into the ice cold lake wasn't quite as simple as we imagined as firstly the floor of the lake was covered in loose big rocks and the water was almost bath temperature warm. ... I decided to purchase my ticket for the opera and then my first seafood since our first night in Greece. As for the opera, what can I say. Fantastico! Stupendo!! You get the idea. Very unusual set design and a beautiful ballet to begin with the overture. Even understood some of the Italian and a spectacular ending with fireworks. An enthusiastic burst of applause from the audience. The only negative was the heat, otherwise ...

... fallen after being told that all the boats were booked today and we couldn't have one. We booked one for Wednesday instead. So plan A had failed and was postponed. Mike undeterred from his requirement to board a boat decided that Plan B could be to board one of the ferries and visit Sirmione instead. We all liked the sound of that so headed off to check the timetable. Epic fail as the ferry hardly ever stops at our little place so that wasn't going to work either. So ...
