In the Netherlands people also celebrate December 26. They call it "second Christmas Day". It's pretty much the same as the day before; there is lots of food. Most stores are closed and people spend the day with their family and friends. We're going for a bike ride to get some fresh ...

Today is Christmas! I'm so excited. There is a lot of food and yummy snacks. My oma's house is full with people. I have a great time. For supper we eat "gourmetten", which is where you get a little pan and you make the food yourself on a big hot cooktop that sits in the middle of the table. I believe you call it "raclette" in ...

This way the garbage/plastic stays off the ground and mice and other rodents can't get in ...

Now try and imagine driving into some of the old German or Dutch towns or villages, and trying to find somewhere to park! Are you cringing? Because we were. So we decided to buy a couple of eBikes ("e" because of MJ’s knees) so that when we set up camp somewhere, we won’t have to take our car into town to go exploring. If it’s a long way, then ...

      23rd August 2012

We woke up to a dodgy sky with clouds high and low, some sun looking very changeable. We were up and about doing! John washing the decks, then the windows, sorting out petrol for the new outboard. This also meant a major overhaul of our storage box on deck with its anchors, solar light, ropes, snubber lines, 2 petrol cans and fishing net. It took quite some organising and the next thing ...
