... large & comprehensive memorial & really covers all of World War II & even the Cold War which followed. The memorial is built over a bunker which was a command bunker when the Germans occupied France. That bunker is part of the memorial & it is interesting to look through it. I was there from soon after 9am to 2pm, when my tour of the D Day beaches started & I didn’t see it all. One could probably spend a day there to see it all properly. The tour I ...

... view of the city. Dinner of Flam, a delicious thin crust pizza, then completing the day with a boat ride on the Seine and a view of the Eiffel Tower. Timing happened to be just right to see the Tower "sparkle" which happens on the hour until 11:00 pm. Bed early for a 4:00am wake up to catch the EuroStar train through the Chunnel to London.

Up at 7.00 am ...the usual morning rituals eg shower dress then out the door to our favourite caffe for croquet Monsieur (loosely translated to ham and cheese toastie ... But better!!) ... lunch across the river at Panis restaurant, eating lunch on the bank of the Seine with views of Notre Dame is surreal, it just tops lunch at the Empire bar overlooking the Amcal chemist in Perth. ... that Evan ate his sweetbreads! I was just hopping that he wouldn't tell Evan what they actually were... Third couse: albacore tuna, currents, green beans, and zucchini. I love tuna so this was a winner! Evan thought it tasted like steak (another one of his faves) so he liked it too. The currents helped balace out the richness of the tuna.
